Occasional snippets of news from the club

YOU'RE NEVER GOING TO BELIEVE IT!

Our Committee of Management recognising the current economic restraints, have decided on the bold and radical, some might say foolhardy, step of reducing the membership fees by £80 to £350 thus reversing the pattern of an annual rise over these past ten years which did nothing but reduce the membership of the Club.  At the AGM, most of the members recognised the risk involved but felt it is a risk worth taking.

We have also reduced the Junior fees to £50 across the board to encourage more young people to join our Club.  We presently have sixteen boys and two enthusiastic young girls as members and hope to increase this in the coming year.  Please encourage your children, your neices, nephews, neighbours' children, to take up golf.  We have the most wonderful facility on our doorstep - we need to use it!

To this end, three of our members are giving tuition throughout the season not only to Juniors, but also to any new (and old) members who would like to better their swing.

We intend to hold a Taster / Open Day to allow people to come and try to see if they would be interested in taking up golf.  Again, there will be members there to show them how to swing.

The Open Competition entries will be on the website within the next few days and we hope as many members as possible will take part.  The prizes as usual are worth competing for.  The entry forms will also be available from Liz in the Starter's Office.

As last year, we are running three mixed Texas Scrambles throughout the Summer and again, we hope as many as possible will take part.  Last year, our Ladies Section threw themselves into it even under the worst possible conditions.  Watch out for the posters and entry forms.

We hope to increase our stock of ride on buggies this year and, to assist our more senior members who are finding it more challenging to walk round 18 holes, we intend to offer a special price of £5 for the hire of a buggy.  Book early- they will be much in demand.

And lastly, the Committee of Management promise to do its best to make OUR CLUB earn its place as the leading golf club on Bute.
